The sugar syrup along with the maraschino cherry and lemon garnish in the Boston Sour give this drink a joyful, holiday feel that is perfect for Christmas.

  • 1 ½ fluid ounces (50 ml) of bourbon
  • 12 ounces (330 grams) of sugar
  • 5 ½ fluid ounces (170 ml) of water
  • 1 ½ tablespoons (25 ml) of lemon juice
  • Dash of egg white
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Slice of lemon

 

Instructions

Mix sugar and water, boil and allow to cool until a sugary syrup is formed.  Pour the syrup in a bottle and refrigerate it so that it continues to cool.

When the syrup is sufficiently cooled, mix 2 teaspoons (10 ml) of it in a shaker along with the bourbon, lemon juice and egg white. Shake briskly, then strain into an whiskey tumbler that has been filled with ice.

Garnish with the lemon slice and the maraschino cherry, then serve.
