Candy canes and herbal tea give this mulled wine recipe a modern flavor.
- Two lemons
- Two oranges
- One bottle of red wine - medium or full bodied
- Nutmeg - amount as desired
- Cloves -amount as desired
- Cognac or brandy- amount as desired
- One cup of granulated sugar (optional)
- Herbal or citrus influenced tea (optional - you may substitute water for tea)
- Four large cinnamon sticks
- Four candy canes
Instructions
- Slice the oranges and the lemons.
- Pour the red wine into a saucepan and allow it to heat gradually.
- Add brandy, nutmeg, cloves and fruit slices.
- Let the mixture continue to heat up until it feels hot when you touch it.
- Add water or sugar. (This is optional.)
- Pour into glasses/mug.
- You may now add tea if you like.
- Garnish with a candy cane and a cinammon stick.
